Therapies
Physical Therapy
The goal of the Physical Therapist is to
improve the rate of motor development such as balance, strength,
co-ordination and range of motion. Following a thorough evaluation,
each child's program is designed to meet his/her individual
requirements, while incorporating recommendations and input
from the parent/guardian and the professional serving the
child.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy helps patients maximize
their functional capabilities at home, at work and play. The
therapist develops a personalized program for each client
tailored to meet their specific needs. Occupational therapy
addresses a variety of conditions including upper extremity
and hand injuries, neurological disorders and arthritis. Also
available is on-site job analysis and industrial programs
stressing the prevention of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
Speech Pathology
The speech pathology department offers programs
for children and adults to regain speech, language and swallowing
skills which were lost or impaired because of illness, injury
or congenital abnormalities. The speech-language pathologists
conduct an evaluation, diagnose the deficiencies and provide
therapy by using state-of-the-art equipment, diagnostic methods
and treatment techniques. Speech pathologists assist patients
with a variety of problems caused by stroke, head injury,
delayed speech-language development (articulation), voice
pathologies, cancer (laryngeal and brain), hearing impairment,
stuttering and swallowing disorders, language difficulties
with English and learning disabilities.
Audiology
The Audiology department offers hearing
evaluations and Audiology services to adults who demonstrate
difficulty with hearing. The department is staffed by audiologists.
Audiologists are trained in the measurement and diagnosis
of hearing disorders and the rehabilitation of communication
problems caused by these disorders. We are happy to work with
individuals who are interested in obtaining a hearing aid.
